Mission

Cancer looks like me. Cancer looks like you. Cancer doesn’t have a dress code.

Unribboned exists for everyone affected by breast/chest cancer - and especially for those who haven’t felt seen, included, or at home in traditional pink ribbon culture.

We’re making room for the bodies, identities, aesthetics, experiences, and ways of moving through the world that cancer culture too often leaves out. Y’all means all at Unribboned. Queer, trans, nonbinary, cis, straight. Tattooed, pierced, punk, goth. Any and all countercultures and subcultures - or none of the above.

We also advocate for research funding that includes people too often left out of breast/chest cancer research, because representation without research isn’t enough. We want better answers about cancer risk after top surgery, and more research into how gender-affirming testosterone may affect - and potentially reduce - that risk.

Everyone deserves evidence that reflects their body and their life, so they can make informed decisions about their health.

Because there is no right way to look like someone who has experienced cancer. No right way to experience it. And no requirement to wear pink to belong here.

Come as you are. Cancer looks like us.
